Hi everybody,

We have presented our collaborative project to our youngers and betters, otherwise known as students and tutors and now it is your turn, anybody who feels like joining in is welcome to take part in our Postal Strike.
You know the rules, nothing illegal or unsuitable for children, this is a family site. Images in JPEG format and send them to chrisandjenball@hotmail.com so that I can upload them to the blog.

Cheers

Wednesday 16 March 2011

Hello silly people! Our lady from Guernsey has returned. She told me last night that she thinks that I will be impressed with her efforts. She added that having her photo taken with the post boxes was a highlight of her break! Her sister has promised to upload the images to us. Whoopee!/Cool! (It depends on your generation!)

Most of our postal strikers have commented that they had fun doing their silly thing. If YOU enjoyed it (even a bit)
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT ON OUR BLOGSPOT ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE.

Cheers!

Gary Misses Out

Hello silly people. One of our Kings Heath Park dog-walkers - the lady mentioned in my last post - should now be enjoying her stay in Guernsey.

You will remember that the post boxes in Guernsey are blue .......? Well, we're hoping that, by this time next week, all of the post boxes but one in Guernsey will be blue!

Unfortunately, this is a non-profit blog so we were unable to send Gary Endall, our official dog-walkers' photographer, to Guernsey to record the event.

Scotsmen in kilts, flabberghasted nuns, short-sighted old ladies, florally adorned fashion-conscious blue-rinsers and brown paper wrapped post-boxes will have to speak for his professional touch!

Pat's getting into the swing!

Hello again silly people doing silly things with post boxes! I hope that you are enjoying your silly blog as much as Jen and I are.

Please ask your friends to do something silly if the mood takes them in the locality of a post box - and send us a photo. Postal strike could go global!
Being silly is so life enhancing: I always thought that there must have been a valid reason for my early start.

Keep checking. New shenanigans are arriving at a steady rate. Look out for a lady who has just left for Guernsey where, she tells me, the post boxes are blue. Well, we can't have that, can we?

London Postalstrike

During a weekend in London, we decided that interfering with the postbox outside Millbank was not a good idea, The CCTV cameras were rather obvious and after the student protests ----------!!!!!

Westminster Bridge road was quieter, Kevin looked a treat in his pillar box red wet weather gear!

Saturday February 19th The Photoshoot

08.00 Cryptic e-mail from Gary, our photographer - the rain is beating down but he assumes that, since we're British and therefore intrepid, we'll wish to persevere.

"Absolutely", I reply instantly.

Every morning at 08.00 these stoical persons meet for a happy hour in Kings Heath Park with their canine companions.

Today has been no exception. At 09.50 they regroup, dripping. Graham is already wearing his kilt. Diane carries a suspiciously bulgy plastic bag. Gary repairs to his car to collect his camera. Pat dives into the boot of hers and emerges transformed. We look at each other and laugh. Texts are sent to to Jess and Amanda: 10.00 a.m. and we're on our way !

Postal strikes hit Surrey

I have it on good authority that Surrey has experienced its first postal stike.

Okay, exactly how did she get up there?

She should have gone to Specsavers

Graham is a little late posting his haggis

Sister Conceptua thought she had ordered The Tablet

Location Location Location

It would be great if everybody noted the location of their postbox/es, usually on the front of said box.

Eventually, we aim to produce a map of strikes and when/if we go global then it could be fun, who knows ?

Apparently there is a website of all postbox locations in the UK. Food for thought ..............

Here we have a couple of 'patient postboxes' for you all to peruse.
Is he a real doctor I wonder ?

Cough !

Open wide !

In the park

Pat will have more to tell you about this, but briefly there was a photoshoot in the vicinity of Kings Heath Park at the weekend and the results were brilliant, despite hostile weather conditions.
Here we have some of the first photos, impressive don't you think?

Walkies?

Flower Power ?
All wrapped up
Should I push harder ?

Ah! Got it !

Get me out of here

Just for information

At the end of our project we are planning to print some of the images received, decided by an independent person and print them on postcards.

These will be posted out to all participants with details of this blogsite and then we will welcome comments.

Until then we are retaining control of the site as it will be our presentation.

So far so good

Surely not them! I thought they were respectable.

Perhaps this is a clue to their whereabouts?

'ello 'ello 'ello

I believe they are quite dangerous.

Some great pictures coming in. Thankyou very much.

First pictures

Should I bring flowers?
As you can see we have had our first postbox photos. Is there a prize for being first?
No, I thought not.

A few hiccups

We have had a few hiccups with the blog down to to our total lack of experience. Pat is now an administrator and hopefully will be able to access and insert blogs.
The insertion of pictures has also presented challenges. Different formats being just one minor problem.
All good fun.

Pat and Jen's Collaborative project " Postal Strike"

Have you heard of Banksie? or Guerilla knitters? Have you seen the film "Exit through the Bookshop" Well here's something different........

Pat Needle and Jen Ball are planning to challenge volunteers

" to do something silly with a postbox"

This can be with/on/to/or from a postbox.
It can involve people, animals or artefacts.
Nothing illegal or rude this is to be child friendly and we don't want anybody breaking the law.
